Terms of Use
Last updated 28 October 2026
These terms are between you and Josh Mustafa, an individual developer in the United Kingdom, who makes Alan: Subscription Tracker (“the app”). By using the app, you agree to them. Please read them with the Privacy Policy.
1. Apple’s licence
The app is licensed to you under Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the standard EULA). These terms add to it. If they disagree, the standard EULA wins for the licence to use the app.
2. What the app does
The app helps you keep track of your subscriptions and reminds you before they renew. It can read your bank or card statements to find subscriptions. The app doesn’t cancel subscriptions for you, and it isn’t financial advice.
3. Your account
You sign in with Apple. Keep your Apple Account and your iPhone secure. You are responsible for what happens in the app under your account.
4. Plans and prices
- Free. Track a small number of subscriptions, with one free statement scan.
- Pro. Unlocks the app for you, weekly, monthly or yearly. Includes one statement scan a month.
- Family. For your Apple Family Sharing group of up to 6 people, monthly or yearly. Adds a shared household list. Each adult gets one statement scan a month.
- Lifetime. A one time purchase that unlocks everything except statement scans.
- Scan packs. One time purchases of 1, 3 or 12 statement scans. They are used when your plan doesn’t include a scan. Unused scans stay on your account until you use them. They are lost if you delete your account.
The app shows what each plan includes and its price in your currency before you buy. Prices can vary by country and may change. A price change never affects a period you have already paid for.
5. Free trial
Pro and Family plans start with a 3 day free trial if you are eligible. Apple decides who is eligible. During the trial, the plan’s features are unlocked. The monthly statement scan included in your plan starts when your first paid period begins. If you don’t cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, Apple charges you the plan’s price and the subscription starts.
6. Automatic renewal
- Payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase, or when your free trial ends.
- Pro and Family renew automatically at the end of each period, at the same length and price, unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends.
- Your Apple Account is charged for the renewal within 24 hours before the period ends.
- You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time. Open the Settings app, tap your name, then tap Subscriptions. After you cancel, you keep access until the end of the period you paid for.
- Deleting the app or your account does not cancel your subscription.
7. Refunds and restoring purchases
Apple handles all payments and refunds. To ask for a refund, go to reportaproblem.apple.com. If you move to a new iPhone, tap Restore purchases in the app’s Settings while signed in to the same Apple Account.
8. Statement reading can make mistakes
Statements are read by AI. It can make mistakes. It might miss a subscription, read an amount or date wrongly, or list something that isn’t a subscription. Please check what the app finds before you rely on it, and check with your bank or the service if you are unsure. Only scan statements you have the right to use.
9. Reminders
Reminders depend on the dates you enter and on your iPhone allowing notifications. I can’t promise every reminder will arrive. You are responsible for cancelling services you don’t want in time.
10. Fair use
Please don’t misuse the app or my server. That means no trying to break in, overload it, copy it, or read statements for other people as a service. The app limits how often you can scan. I may suspend an account that breaks these terms.
11. Changes to the app
I may change, add or remove features. Statement scans, the shared list and logos need an internet connection and my server. I will try to keep them running, but I can’t promise they will always be available.
12. Liability
I provide the app as it is. As far as the law allows, I am not responsible for charges from other services, missed cancellations, or decisions you make based on the app. If I am responsible for a loss, my total liability is limited to what you paid for the app in the 12 months before the loss. Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law does not allow me to limit, or takes away your rights as a consumer.
13. Ending
You can stop using the app at any time and delete your account in Settings. If you break these terms, I may close your account.
14. Law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live elsewhere, including in Japan, you keep the protection of the consumer law where you live, and you can bring a claim in your local courts.
15. Changes to these terms
If I change these terms, I will update this page and the date at the top. If you keep using the app after a change, the new terms apply.
